What is an eSIM, and will my phone work with one?

An eSIM is a SIM card built into your phone, so there is no plastic card to post or swap. Most phones released since 2019 support one — including iPhone XS and later, Google Pixel 3 and later, and recent Samsung Galaxy S and Z models. Your phone also has to be carrier-unlocked. On iPhone you can check under Settings › General › About: if you see an EID number, the phone supports eSIM.

How do I get my eSIM after I pay?

It arrives by email, usually within a minute or two of payment. The email carries a QR code, a link to an install page, and the manual activation details. The same information appears on screen the moment your order completes, and you can return to it any time from the Track Order page.

How do I install it?

Accepted Answer

There are three ways, and any one of them is enough. Scan the QR code with a second device. Or open the install link on the phone itself and follow the prompts. Or add it by hand using the SM-DP+ address and activation code we send you. Installing needs an internet connection — do it on Wi-Fi before you travel.

Should I install it before I fly?

Yes — install it at home on Wi-Fi. Installing is not the same as starting the plan. For most plans the validity period begins when the eSIM first connects to a network at your destination, not when you install it, so setting it up early costs you nothing and saves you hunting for airport Wi-Fi on arrival.

What is the difference between daily and fixed plans?

A fixed plan gives you a set amount of data to use across the whole validity period — 1 GB over 7 days, for example. A daily plan gives you an allowance that refreshes every day, and you choose how many consecutive days you need. Once a day’s allowance is used, most daily plans keep working at a reduced speed rather than cutting you off; the plan card tells you which speed applies.

Do I keep my own number, and can I make calls?

These are data-only plans: they carry internet, not a local voice line or SMS. Your existing number stays on your normal SIM, so you can keep receiving calls and texts on it if you leave it enabled — though your home carrier may charge roaming for that. Calls over WhatsApp, FaceTime and similar apps work normally on the eSIM data.

Can I add more data if I run out?

Not on an eSIM you have already installed — we do not sell top-ups yet. If you run out, buy another eSIM for the same destination and install it alongside the first. Your phone can hold several eSIM profiles, so you only need to switch which one is active. Choosing a larger plan up front is usually cheaper than buying twice.

What payment methods do you accept?

Prices in US dollars are paid by credit or debit card through Stripe. Prices in Malaysian Ringgit are paid through SenangPay, which supports FPX online banking with Malaysian banks as well as cards. You can switch currency at any time using the switcher in the header, and the checkout routes to whichever is right.

Can I get a refund?

Only if something went wrong on our side. If an order fails, nothing is delivered, or we cannot issue your eSIM, you are refunded in full and automatically — you do not need to ask. Once an eSIM has been delivered to you the sale is final, whether or not you install it, because the profile is issued by our supplier the moment the order completes. That is why we ask you to check your device supports eSIM and is not carrier-locked before buying — the FAQ explains how in a minute.

Do I need an account to buy?

Accepted Answer

No. An email address is all that is required, and your eSIM is sent there. Keep the order number — it looks like RSM-2026-XXXXXXXX — and you can pull your order up again on the Track Order page. Creating an account is optional and simply keeps your eSIMs together in one place.

What coverage and speed can I expect?

Each eSIM roams on local partner networks at your destination, so coverage matches what those operators provide — generally 3G, 4G/LTE or 5G where it has been rolled out. Speeds depend on the local network and how busy it is, and on daily plans they are reduced once the day’s allowance is used. The plan card lists the networks and any reduced speed before you buy.
